About The Association of Manitoba Municipalities (AMM) The Association of Manitoba Municipalities identifies and addresses the needs and concerns of its members in order to achieve strong and effective municipal government. The AMM was created in January 1999 as a result of a merger between the Union of Manitoba Municipalities (UMM) and the Manitoba Association of Urban Municipalities (MAUM). All municipalities in Manitoba are members of the AMM. One of the main functions of the AMM is to lobby on issues that affect Manitoba municipalities. Many of our issues are raised by our members through resolutions or correspondence, which we then bring to the attention of the Manitoba or Federal government. Other issues are initiated by senior levels of government when they draft legislation or regulations that affect municipalities. The AMM monitors and responds to any legislation affecting municipal government. On an annual basis, the AMM meets with: The Provincial Cabinet The AMM is solely funded by its members and its trading company
